Elecampane Tincture
Elecampane (Inula helenium) is an astringent and bitter herb that has been traditionally used to tonify the mucous tissues of the respiratory, G.I. tract, and urinary tract and is most often known as an aid in wet coughs.
Elecampane is known by many names including Elfdock and Elfwort and is a perennial herb in the sunflower family. Elecampane produces clusters of yellow sunflower-like blooms in the Summer and produces many seeds in the Fall. After the plants die back in late Fall, we gather the roots for fresh tincture and replant the crowns for the following season.
