This year, our Spring tea is a delicious mix created to support your mind, body and spirit. This tea contains Tulsi (also known as Holy Basil) and Milky Oat Heads to repair your nervous system and support your adrenals. Stinging nettles are highly nourishing, full of an amazing amount of vitamins and minerals including A, C, E, K and easily absorbable forms of calcium, iron and protein. Nettles help to build your overall vitality and strength and are particularly helpful for the kidneys, adrenals, lungs and circulation. Stinging nettles are also an anti-histamine and regular use can help prevent seasonal allergies. To top it off we have added Roses for some sweet holding. Drink this tea to calm your stress, nourish your body and lift your spirits. Not for use in pregnancy.
For a medicinal brew use at a ratio of 1 tbsp of herbs per one cup of water. Pour boiling water over herbs, cover, and let steep for a minimum of 20 minutes, up to overnight (longer steeping will create a more potent infusion- especially for nettles) or simply enjoy in the way that you usually prepare your tea. If you steep overnight, you can drink it cool or reheat your tea if you prefer it warm. Nettle tea will get (what we refer to as) ‘skunky’ if you leave it out for more than a day, so refrigerate it or drink it throughout the following day.

This is a single herb tincture (sometimes called a ‘simple’ in herbal lingo) of Goldenrod or Solidago Canadensis. The latin name for this plant originates from Solido- meaning to strengthen or make whole. In the garden, I appreciate this plant for its height, as it sends up tall stems of fuzzy bright yellow flowers in the Fall, just as the rest of the garden has begun to die back.
Goldenrod is especially effective on two systems in the body- the respiratory system and the kidney/urinary tract system. This plant is especially indicated for allergies of many kinds (hay fever, animal and mold to name a few) and their symptoms (itchy, watery eyes, congestion/runny nose, hives), as well as sinus infections and lingering respiratory infections. It can be used in acute moments of allergy attack or as a daily preventative leading up to allergy season (and would work well preventatively combined with liver support and nettle tea). Goldenrod is also great for UTI and kidney infections, and painful urination (especially with ‘gravel’ associated with kidney stones), since it is anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic and pain relieving to the urinary tract.
Goldenrod can also be used in a spirit dose (1-3 drops) to support you in having a more clearly defined and autonomous sense of yourself, if you tend to be a person who holds your sense of self in relation to others.

If you have digestive challenges (from constipation to loose stools,) we suggestive taking this digestive bitters blend before eating, especially when eating rich foods. Because the taste of bitter herbs prepares your gastro-intestinal system (from your salivary glands to your stomach’s digestive enzymes) to start the work of breaking down your meal. You can take 10-15 drops of this formula on the tongue 15 min before a meal or take 20-30 drops at any sign of digestive upset since this blend of Angelica, Dandelion, Chamomile, Ginger and Orange Peel can also help with gas, indigestion, heartburn and nausea. Bitters can also help an acute histamine attack which are helpful to have on-hand this allergy season.

For a number of years now we have been making Four Thieves Vinegar- an anti-microbial vinegar containing the common garden herbs of rosemary, sage, thyme, lavender and peppermint. Fabled to be used by grave-robbers to avoid the plague, this mixture of culinary herbs is both delicious and a strong immune boost. This year, we’ve decided to try this combo in a cooking salt. Use this herb infused sea salt to flavor soups, stews, veggies and popcorn! to help keep you healthy at the tail end of this cold and flu season.

This spray is made of three of our favorite skin soothing flowers- rose, lavender, and calendula- all infused in witch hazel extracted in topical alcohol. Witch hazel is naturally astringent making it a preferable base for treating ‘hot’ skin conditions (when you would not want to use oil based remedies like salves and lotions) such as an itchy or weepy rash from poison oak or ivy, burns or sunburns. This spray can also be used to clean, soothe and tighten the skin before moistening with salves or lotions for scrapes and minor wounds, eczema and psoriasis, hemorrhoids or acne- it’s very versatile! It can also be used as a daily toner after washing your face, to tame redness or puffiness and tighten pores.
